This year I decided to put a Christmas tree in our basement play area for the kids and I love the way it turned out! I usually have this tree in our master bedroom but since our daughter Ruby was born earlier this summer, we have the rocking chair and bassinet in our room, so there isn’t a good spot for the tree.

I had some of these colorful bulbs already from previous trees/projects and felt inspired to create a colorful and playful tree for their space. I took a quick trip to the Dollar Tree to grab some more ornaments and jewel toned wrapping paper (which was not worth the buy lol it was nearly impossible to cut because it was so thin so buyer beware if you get wrapping paper from the Dollar Tree). The owl tree topper is actually super old from Target. Brian and I picked it out for our first Christmas together over 10 years ago! Time sure flies, and I love that I get to use it now for the kids tree. I added some festive pillows to their Nugget couch and another small tree on their playshelf and it’s looking like a colorful winter wonderland! The tree is so fun just like them!
