How To Decorate Your Front Porch For Fall

Fall Front Porch.jpg

So if you didn't already know that I love the fall then you're either new to this blog or new to me. LOL It's the best time of year in my opinion and I love everything associated with the season. The crisp sweater weather, football games, cozy candles, and the beautiful scenery. I saw a quote online a while back that said autumn was nature's grand finale and I couldn't agree more! So with that being said, I obviously love to decorate my home for fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving etc. But today's post is specifically about decorating your front porch for fall! Your house welcomes your guests before you do, so it's important to have a welcoming and inviting entrance to greet them with. Here are some ideas that you can try for yourself at home!

Add color and texture!

I love to add color with plenty of mums and pumpkins! With all of this dimension, you'll find yourself and your guests looking at all the details and loving how cheery your entry looks! I like to get all sorts of colors and sizes of mums, but if you wanted to stick with a theme like yellows and oranges or berry tones, that would be equally as impressive! Also, keep in mind that mums need at least 6 hours of sunlight everyday to flower at full potential although they can tolerate partial shade. Straw bales are another way to add heights and texture to your design to take it to the next level! They are perfect for a rustic design and depending on how you style them, they can be a great seat for a photo shoot! So fun!

Plenty of Pumpkins and gourds!

My favorite pumpkins are the unique ones! I love the pale orange, the white, and even sage green pumpkins! And I never shy away from the funky pumpkins with warts or ones that are oddly misshapen because they add extra character! Adding a variety to your design adds so much extra dimension. For a more coastal look, consider decorating with lots of white pumpkins and pale green, or for a more traditional rustic, use lots of the classic orange pumpkins. Whatever the look you're going for, there are plenty of pumpkins to choose from! And don't forget the gourds! There are a lot of fun shapes and sizes and smaller gourds are perfect to use as fillers. I like to tuck the smaller gourds in gaps between the bigger pumpkins like I did in this picture.

Get creative!

Having fun with your design is most important! This is the perfect chance to try something new and quirky. I like to stack pumpkins to add some height to my design and I think it looks so fun! You can do alternate colors or all different colors like I did. You can add corn stalks with bows to columns or find a vintage bench to style with some cute outdoor pillows, as long as you're happy and your guests feel welcome, you can't go wrong with your design! Happy decorating!
