Spooky Cute Halloween Bookshelf Ideas

Spooky season is here and Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! This year it’s extra special because our second daughter Ruby will be celebrating her first Halloween! I couldn’t wait to get started on transforming her big siblings bookshelves with a spooky cute makeover and I love the way they turned out!

For Rowan’s bookshelves I wanted a softer color palette while still feeling Halloween. Black, orange, pink, and lavender achieved that effect while remaining girly! I added colorful paper bats to the sides for a dramatic effect. I love these and use them all over my house for Halloween. The bats are cheap too and can be reused! The “Hey Boo” and matching pumpkin garland was a lucky find at TJ Maxx but Etsy has a ton of similar styles as well! For extra filler I added fun little pennants, a pumpkin, and cuddly black cat. To make her little reading corner feel even cozier, I added a super soft ghost pillow to snuggle up with.

For Ryder’s room, I wanted the traditional black and orange color scheme, so I swapped out his regular books for all the Halloween ones we have acquired over the years. I added a simple pumpkin garland as well as the bats to complete the look! To add some coziness for reading, I added a soft jack-o-lantern pillow for his bed and cute little decorative accents like the polka dot pumpkin and ghost faux succulent. Both her ghost pillow and his pumpkin pillow were found at TJ Maxx. Overall these looks are both super simple to recreate and make Halloween, as well as reading, more fun for the kids!
