Ryder's Big Boy Room Makeover
If you haven’t heard yet, we are excpecting a little girl this August! Our almost 2.5 year old son has been in his crib and because I didn’t want to have to buy a new crib, I knew it was time to start thinking about his big boy room makeover! I wasn’t sure exactly the style I wanted to do so I sat down at the computer to make a design board of things I had seen online that I liked, and eventually it all evolved into his new room! Here is the design board I came up with:
In the end I made a few tweaks to this design but I am so happy with how it all turned out! (If you haven’t see the before, you can see his nursery here.) Ryder seriously loves his new space and enjoys spending time in his room and loves to read books on his new bed! I was nervous how he would take to the new sleeping arraignments but he’s done so well and stays in bed all night. I am glad I decided to do this makeover now and not closer to my due date! Including him in the design process was also something I recommend. We let Ryder pick out the mattress he liked and he helped his dad build the new bed. He loves to help and I think this is a big reason why he loves the space so much, he helped create it! I also purchased a foam bumper for his bed to keep him from rolling off the bed. It’s not as obvious as traditional bumpers and it’s so easy to use and stays put. Sometimes he even uses it as a pillow when he sleeps! You also might notice the bookshelves are now a gray color. They used to be white and I think the color change was much needed for a more grown up feel.
Here are some pictures of the finished space. I hope you love his room as much as we do!
